Divya Padman, the wife of Kalakshetra professor Hari Padman, accused in a sexual harassment case at Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts, has filed a complaint against three people, including a sexual assault survivor, to defend her husband.

Divya Hari Padman says that the former student has filed a false complaint against her husband on the investigation of two faculty members. Divya sought an inquiry from a team of senior women police officers.


She has also claimed that the survivor was once corrected in front of all students by her husband for inglorious activities, due to which the survivor developed annoyance towards her husband.


She informed that the complainant took part in the birthday celebration of their daughter in September 2019, two months after the alleged abuse in July 2019. After leaving the foundation in 2019, the alleged wrote a social media post thanking Hari Padman for “the amazing classes,” and allowing her to "Move forward" for the future.


What had happened in Kalakshetra so far?


Nearly 100 women from the college lodged petitions against at least 4 faculties of Kalakshetra for physical abuse and sexual harassment.


Based on a sexual harassment complaint filed by a survivor who is an alumnus of the college, Padman was arrested by the Chennai police on 3rd April and sent to judicial custody until 13 April. Many women named Padman as their abuser.


Divya Padman also filed a complaint on 5th April With Chennai police, saying that her husband was arrested for false allegations.
