Sanjay Roy, accused in the Kolkata doctor rape-murder case, claims innocence before his polygraph test. Authorities note inconsistencies in his statements and disturbing psychoanalytic profile. The investigation continues as Roy remains in custody, with the CBI interrogating multiple individuals connected to the case.

Sanjay Roy, the primary suspect in the Kolkata doctor rape and murder case, is set to undergo a polygraph test on Sunday amidst a dramatic reversal of his earlier confession. Roy, who had initially admitted to the brutal crime at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, now claims innocence, telling jail guards he knows nothing about the incident.
The accused made similar statements before the additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM) court in Sealdah on Friday, consenting to the lie detector test to prove his innocence. However, both the CBI and police have noted significant inconsistencies in Roy's statements, with one officer stating he has been attempting to mislead investigators.
Authorities report that Roy has failed to provide satisfactory explanations for his facial injuries and his presence near the crime scene, as captured by CCTV footage. The polygraph test, initially scheduled for Saturday, was postponed due to technical issues.
Roy's psychoanalytic profiling has revealed disturbing insights, with experts describing him as a pervert with severe pornography addiction and "animal-like instincts." CBI officers noted his lack of remorse when narrating the crime details.
The victim, a 31-year-old trainee doctor, was found raped and murdered in the hospital's seminar hall on August 9. Her autopsy revealed 16 external and 9 internal injuries. CCTV footage showed Roy entering the building at 4:03 AM on the day of the crime, and he was seen ogling at the victim and others in the chest department the previous day.
