NIA Arrests Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Aide Vikram Brar After UAE Deportation

Vikramjeet Singh, a crucial aide of imprisoned mobster Lawrence Bishnoi, was caught by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) after he was deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The federal agency has been investigating a possible terror-gangster plot, which led to the arrest.

Vikramjeet Singh, alias Vikram Brar, was on the run from the law since the year 2020, when he was charged with 11 counts of murder, attempted murder, extortion, and illegal weapons smuggling under the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. He had a significant role in the illegal arms trade and extortion in India, possibly working with criminals such as Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar.

The National Investigation Agency found that Brar was an accessory after the fact to the murder of famous Punjabi musician Sidhu Moosewala. The investigation also uncovered many instances of Lawrence Bishnoi using hawala routes to transfer extorted monies to Brar.

According to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Vikram Brar served as a "communications control room" for the UAE-based terror group led by Lawrence Bishnoi. Under their direction, he set up extortion calls between Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar in Canada, and then made calls to other targets.

Interpol had issued red alerts for both Vikram Brar and his British and United Arab Emirates-based accomplice Kapil Sangwan, aka Nandu, days before Brar's detention.

A key player in Lawrence Bishnoi's illegal activities, Brar acted as a conduit between Bishnoi's gang and Khalistani militants, as evidenced by papers compiled by the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). Brar and Bishnoi met while attending classes at Panjab University in Chandigarh, where they became close friends before engaging in a series of criminal crimes that included extortion, murder, and attempted murder.

The NIA's continuous pursuit of dismantling dangerous criminal syndicates operating within and outside of the country has made considerable progress with the arrest of Vikramjeet Singh. His expulsion from the United Arab Emirates and subsequent arrest dealt a severe blow to the criminal activities of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and the investigation into their network of terror and crime continues.
