Pakistan's former President Pervez Musharraf passed away on Sunday, 5th February 2023. He was battling for long with illness and died in a hospital in Dubai, as per reports. He was living in a self-imposed exile at the time of his death. The man who was born in Delhi and moved to Pakistan at the age of 4; made a name for himself through his work and courage. He joined the army at the age of 18, before finally becoming the head. He was a 4-star general before becoming the Dictator of Pakistan in 1999.  Pervez Musharraf Pervez Musharraf He was known for his cooperation with the US post 9/11, Pakistani troops entering the areas along the Afghan border, the GDP rise during his tenure, and his luxurious way of lifestyle.  "He is called a military dictator, but there has never been a stronger democratic system than that under him," said former close Musharraf aide Fawad Chaudhry, a leader of former Prime Minister Imran Khan's party. "He gave Pakistan a free media and he stressed on diversity of opinion in Pakistan," Chaudhry said in a video message. But it was not all gold for him. He is often blamed for the birth of a new militant group, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, which has killed tens of thousands of people since its inception. The assassination of Benazir Bhutto in 2007 was also a turning point in his reign as the President of the country. Pervez Musharraf Pervez Musharraf The debates will continue till humans can read and write. Some may praise him for his efforts to bring peace between India and Pakistan, while others might blame him for his dictatorship and the decisions he took during his tenure.
