Punjab Police on Sunday conducted a massive drug operation, arresting four drug traffickers and seizing a whopping 77.8 kilogrammes of heroin in addition to three guns.
As per reports, Counter Intelligence Ferozepur was responsible for the successful operations, which were carried out using reliable information.
In the first operation, Gagga Gill and Veer Singh were arrested while riding a motorbike with a large amount of heroin after police responded promptly on credible information. Police found a stash of ammo, two 9mm pistols, a.30 bore zigana, and 41.8 kilogrammes of heroin.
Another intelligence-led operation resulted in the arrest of two motorcyclists, Jasbhinder Singh and Jagdeep Singh, who were carrying 36 kilograms of heroin.
These two drug smuggling gangs played major roles in transporting drugs across international borders and within the state of Punjab.
While speaking to media over the same, the Punjab DGP, Gaurav Yadav, stressed the importance of these arrests in reducing the drug problem in the area.
‘’The authorities are working carefully to uncover the circumstances surrounding the shipments from Pakistan, as well as the identities and responsibilities of any other parties involved. As the investigation continues, it is expected that further arrests will be made,’’ the DGP said.
The operations are a major success for the Punjab Police Department in their ongoing fight against drug trafficking and to protect the state from the dangers of the narcotics trade. The magnitude of the heroin seizures highlights the difficulty in stemming the supply of illegal substances and the significance of intelligence-driven measures in this regard.
