A special Reuters report has found a Russian graveyard expanding with bodies of mercenaries from the Wagner group recently amidst the ongoing Russia- Ukraine war. The grave is situated in a Russian village called Bakinskaya and it has been reported that by November 2022, there were only 3 rows of dead bodies of mercenaries from the Wagner group, however, the cemetery will become full by January 2023. Russian Prisoners The Wagner Group Mercenaries The Wagner Private Military Company provides private military services to the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Warriors who work for such private companies on contractual basis are often called mercenaries. The Russian Wagner group is currently headed by Yevgeny Prigozhin. The Killed Wagner Group Mercenaries Reuters reported that Wagner deployed Russian prisoners to fight in the Russia- Ukraine war. In December 2022 alone, 40,000 prisoners were recruited by the Wagner group. The prisoners were promised that they would be pardoned if they survived the war for at least 6 months. Some prisoners deployed by the Wagner group included “a contract killer, murderers, career criminals and people with alcohol problems”. The mission assigned to these prisoners was seizure of the Ukrainian towns of Bakhmut and Soledar. However, the plight of the untrained prisoners is very evident from the Bakinskaya graveyard.
