Strict rules are the hallmark of Saudi Arabia. The county is known throughout the world for its zero tolerance of violation of law of the land. To match its image in the international community Saudi Arabia has executed a shockingly huge number of people under its law. This number stands at eighty-one in the last 24 hours.  This makes the number of executed people for this year north of 132.  The most horrifying is the way used to execute these prisoners.

They were beheaded by the sword to make it look like the most stringent punishment in order to create a sense of detriment in the mind of people who might think of violating the law of the land in the future.  The present execution of these many people in a single day might have given reasons for the human rights bodies but without going into this aspect let us first see what was the reason for this huge execution.

The major offense they committed is against the Drug laws of Saudi Arabia.  They include Six citizens of Yaman, Three Pakistanis, Four from Syria, Three from Saudi, and Two from Jordan.  The National Information Enterprise Saudi Press Agency said, in the greatest recognized mass execution carried out in the kingdom in its current history,  on charges such as “allegiance to overseas terrorist organizations” and preserving “deviant beliefs”,  “These folks … had been convicted of several crimes such as murdering harmless men, girls, and children,” SPA stated on Saturday, citing an announcement from the Indoors Ministry.

“The accused have been provided with the proper legal aid and it had been assured that their full rights under the Saudi Regulation are protected all through the judicial process,” it said.

Saudi Arabia denies accusations of human rights abuses and says it protects its citizens and national security by its own laws.
