Security forces engaged terrorists in a gunfight in Srinagar's Zabarwan forest, acting on specific intelligence. The encounter is part of a recent surge in anti-militancy efforts in Kashmir, following several recent encounters in Baramulla and other areas.
A gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Zabarwan forest area of Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar district early on Sunday. Acting on specific intelligence, a joint operation was launched by local police and security forces to locate suspected terrorists in the forested region.
According to a statement from Kashmir police on social media platform X, “A joint Police and security forces operation was launched in the Zabarwan forest area of Srinagar based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists. An exchange of fire ensued during the operation." Further updates on the encounter are still awaited.

This incident follows recent anti-militancy operations in the region. On Saturday, one terrorist was killed in an operation with security forces in the Sopore area of Baramulla district. Additionally, three terrorists, including a wanted Lashkar-e-Taiba commander named Usman Lashkari, were killed in separate operations in Kashmir on November 2. These recent confrontations have resulted in injuries to two police officers and two CRPF personnel.
