Kerala police arrested a sixth accused, Anuraj, in the Kalamassery college drug bust case. He is suspected of procuring and distributing ganja within the hostel. Investigations reveal he sourced 4 kg of ganja. SFI dismissed allegations linking them to the case, calling it a political conspiracy. Police continue their probe.

In a significant development in the Kalamassery college drug bust case, police arrested a sixth accused, Anuraj, a third-year mechanical engineering student from Kollam. He was taken into custody on Saturday and formally arrested on Sunday following a detailed interrogation.
The arrest comes three days after authorities seized nearly 2 kg of ganja from the men’s hostel of Government Polytechnic College in Ernakulam district. The police launched the raid on March 13 based on a tip-off from the college principal, who had warned about possible drug usage during Holi celebrations.
According to investigators, Anuraj is the key accused in the case, allegedly responsible for procuring and distributing drugs within the hostel premises. Preliminary findings suggest he sourced 4 kg of ganja, with 2 kg smuggled into the hostel. Other arrested students claimed that Anuraj was the primary supplier. His financial transactions are currently under scrutiny to determine the extent of his involvement.
So far, six individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. Among them are current students Adithyan and Abhiraj R, along with former students Ashique and Shalik. The fifth accused, Abhiraj R, was a member of the CPM student wing SFI and the general secretary of the college union. Following his arrest, he was expelled from the organization.
Meanwhile, SFI state president M Sivaprasad alleged that political rivals, including Congress and its student wing KSU, were attempting to malign the organization’s reputation. He asserted that SFI has been actively leading anti-drug campaigns across the state and dismissed claims linking the group to the case.

Police continue their investigation, focusing on Anuraj’s role in drug procurement and distribution, as well as any potential larger network involved in the operation.
