BJP's Mukesh Dalal has become a surprise winner of the election to the Lok Sabha constituency of Surat, Gujarat. His victory was achieved unanimously when all other candidates withdrew their candidature from the election on Monday. After this, on 14th February, the nominations of Congress candidates, M Nilesh Kumbhani and Suresh Padsala, were canceled as the election commission found discrepancies in the proposers' signatures.

The returning officer, who had jurisdiction over the district, held the view that the signatures on the nomination forms of Congress candidates were not those of their proposers. The Congress was supposed to furnish the signatories with videos, but they didn't appear for the selection process, which led to the nominations being rejected.

The candidates of the Congress party were already out of the race long before Monday’s deadline, and thereby the other seven independent candidates decided to withdraw their candidacy as well. Thus, only one candidate, Mukesh Dalal, emerged as the winner of the election, since all the rest of the contestants had been excluded.

CR Paatil, the state chief of Gujarat BJP, used social media to appreciate Surat Lok Sabha candidate Mukeshbhai Dalal for being the first lotus which offered to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The party president stated, "The first lotus bloomed itself at Surat for Prime Minister Narendra Modi." Tender greetings to the Surat Lok Sabha contender Mukeshbhai.

On the other hand, the Congress party of Gujarat has slandered the BJP party with accusations of foul play, and their chief Shaktisinh Gohil stated that the rejection of their candidate’s nomination form was organized by the BJP because they fear losing the election.

The voters of Surat Lok Sabha constituency were scheduled to cast their votes on May 7th, which is the third round of elections for Gujarat in this year's General Elections of 2024. It was a walk in the park for Dalal as he got elected unopposed, resulting in the party capturing a large region that is of great importance.
