In a significant development merging technology and diplomacy, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, engaged in discussions with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol in Seoul. The meeting, held on February 29, aimed to deepen cooperation between Meta and South Korean companies in the realms of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Extended Reality (XR).

During Zuckerberg's three-day visit to Seoul, he met not only with President Yoon but also with key figures from the South Korean business landscape. Among them were Lee Jae-Yong, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, and Cho Joo-wan, CEO of LG Electronics. These discussions revolved around potential collaborations in cutting-edge industries, as reported by Yonhap news agency.

At the heart of the discussions between Yoon and Zuckerberg was the vision for an open AI digital ecosystem. They explored avenues to strengthen cooperation between Meta and South Korean companies, emphasizing the importance of Meta's role in fostering a trustworthy digital society on a global scale.

President Yoon highlighted South Korea's leadership in memory chips, an integral component of AI systems. He underscored the government's readiness to offer active support, leveraging the established supply chain cooperation mechanisms with the United States.
