Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji was taken into custody
by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials in connection with an alleged
money laundering case, leading to a dramatic scene in Chennai. The DMK leader
was brought in for questioning after the ED conducted raids on his premises the
day before.
Amid tight security, Balaji was taken to the Omandurar
government hospital for a medical examination in the early hours of Wednesday.

Outside the hospital, a tense situation unfolded as the
minister, lying in a car, was visibly distressed and in pain, prompting his supporters
to gather and protest against the ED's actions.
DMK MP and lawyer NR Elango reported that Balaji had been
moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) for further evaluation of his health.
Elango mentioned that the doctors needed to document all the injuries sustained
if the individual claimed to have been assaulted, and further information about
Balaji's arrest had not been officially communicated by the ED.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, another DMK minister, confirmed that
Balaji was undergoing treatment. The ED had conducted raids at Balaji's
residence in Karur and his office at the state secretariat, as well as the
premises of his brother and a close aide in Karur, as part of the investigation
into the alleged money laundering case.
V Senthil Balaji serves as the Minister for Electricity,
Prohibition, and Excise in the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government. The developments
surrounding his custody and the ongoing investigation have garnered significant
attention in the region.
