Trekking Tragedy: Bihar Officer Dies After Falling Into Gorge in Himachal Pradesh

In a tragic incident, an officer from Bihar, lost his life during a trekking expedition in Himachal Pradesh.


He was a senior officer and Joint Secretary from the Bihar government, who lost his balance and fell into a gorge near Jakha on Sunday.


On June 25, the Joint Secretary of Bihar's Sugarcane Development Department, Jitendra Prasad Sah, tragically passed away after sustaining severe head injuries on a trekking expedition. His untimely demise occurred on the spot. 


The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has recovered his body, which will be brought back to Patna by Tuesday night on June 27.

His body is currently undergoing examination at Sandasri Hospital in Himachal Pradesh to conduct a postmortem. After that, his remains will be transported to Chandigarh airport for air transportation to Patna tomorrow night. It is expected that his body will arrive in Patna by tomorrow evening.


The officer from Bihar was on a hiking expedition in the hills of Himachal Pradesh along with other officers of the Bihar government when the unfortunate incident occurred. The group of officers consisted of the Principal Secretary of the Sugarcane Development Department, Narmadeshwar Lal, the District Informatics Officer, Ram Bhagwan, and Dr Ramesh from the Animal Husbandry Department, along with Jitendra Prasad Sah.

Shashank Shekhar Sinha, the President of the Bihar Administrative Services Association, has offered heartfelt sympathies on the untimely passing of the Bihar Administrative Services officer. The General Secretary of the Bihar Administrative Services Association, Sunil Kumar Tiwari, expressed his condolences as well. Jitendra Sah is survived by his wife and two sons.
