Twitter spends Rs 32000 on Food for Each Employee,  Musk Explores the Data 

Two weeks after Elon Musk completed his acquisition of Twitter, controversies and contradictions regarding the dramatic developments at the company continue to make news. 

On Sunday, Elon Musk sparred with the company's former Vice President of Work Transformation, Tracy Hawkins, over the issue of employee lunches. Notably, Ms Hawkins ran the food program on Twitter until a week ago.. 

Hawkins said that Elon Musk's earlier claim that almost no one came to the office and that the estimated cost per lunch served in the past 12 months was over $400 that is approximately Rs 32000 is a lie. 

She said, "This is a lie. I was running this programme until a week ago, when I decided to resign because I didn't want to work for @elonmusk. Each day, we spent $20 to $25 on breakfast and lunch. Employees were able to work through meetings and lunch. In the offices, attendance ranged from 20 to 50 percent.

In response to her tweet, Mr. Musk stated that Twitter spends $13 million a year on catering at its headquarters in San Francisco. False, Mr. Musk wrote, refuting the claims made by the former employee. 

For its San Francisco headquarters, Twitter spends $13M annually on food service. Peak occupancy according to records was 25%, while average occupancy was under 10%. More people are cooking breakfast than are eating it. There is no one in the building, so they don't even bother to serve dinner.

Elon Musk also made the observation that more people prepare breakfast than actually eat it. The majority of residents, he continued, are 25%, and the average resident makes up less than 10% of the population.

Prior to engaging Ms. Hawkins in conversation, Mr. Musk also responded to @NicheGamer, who had forwarded Andrew Wortman's tweet claiming that Elon Musk had fired three-quarters of the workforce and intended to lay off the remaining employees. Wortman objected to Twitter starting to charge for lunch rather than providing it for free. @NicheGamer had tweeted in response to Mr. Wortman, "Maybe they should learn to cook!"

Elon Musk reportedly informed Twitter employees in his first email to staff about the company's potential effects on the US economy. Additionally, he demanded that Twitter employees put in 40 hours per week of work and declared an end to the company's remote work policy, which had been instituted by Jack Dorsey during the COVID period. Musk's email stated that "the road ahead is arduous and will require intense work to succeed."

Due to Elon Musk's plans for content moderation, some advertisers have pulled back from Twitter, which has a heavy debt load from the acquisition. Elon Musk's bankruptcy declaration was previously reported by The Information and Platformer.

The change happened in the midst of a string of Twitter resignations following Elon Musk's takeover. On Thursday, Yoel Roth, who oversaw Twitter's effort to combat hate speech, false information, and spam, announced his resignation. Lea Kissner, Twitter's chief information security officer, announced her resignation from the company a day earlier.
