PTI warns Imran Khan a red line as reports of warrants for his arrest make rounds

Imran Khan arrest:-

Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, faced a night in custody after the court denied him bail and deemed his arrest Lawful . The decision to keep him detained will be challenged today, adding to the political tension in the country.

Following Imran Khan's arrest, the United States expressed awareness of the events in Islamabad but maintained a neutral stance regarding political candidates and parties. Both the US and the UK emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law in Pakistan during a joint press conference.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated the desire to see peaceful democracy and adherence to the constitution, while UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly echoed the need for the rule of law to be respected.

As news of Imran Khan's arrest spread, PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) workers and his supporters staged protests across the nation. Some of these protests turned violent as PTI supporters, fueled with anger, forcefully entered the premises of the Pakistan Army headquarters in Rawalpindi and breached the residence of Corps Commanders in Lahore.

Similar protests are scheduled for the following day, urging PTI supporters both within and outside of Pakistan to mobilize.

In response to Imran Khan's arrest, PTI has called on party leaders, workers, and supporters to gather at the Islamabad Judicial Complex the next morning. However, the former Prime Minister spent the night in jail as the Islamabad High Court denied him bail. This decision will be challenged in the Supreme Court.

The arrest of Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, stems from the Al-Qadir Trust case. They are accused of accepting billions of rupees from a real estate company in exchange for legalizing a laundered sum of ₹50 billion.

The protests following Imran Khan's arrest led to the suspension of internet services throughout the country, raising concerns. Amnesty International has made a plea to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, urging them to reinstate the disrupted internet services, emphasizing the significance of unrestricted access to information.

Amidst the turmoil, former cricket captain Wasim Akram expressed his support for Imran Khan, emphasizing his strength and urging him to stay resilient. Meanwhile, Indian politician Priyanka Chaturvedi lamented the situation in Pakistan, describing it as a disaster.

PTI supporters alleged that Imran Khan was subjected to torture during his arrest. They claimed he was forcefully taken away, abducted, and suffered a blow to the head. These allegations further fuelled the tension surrounding his detention.
