In a shocking road rage incident in Surat, Gujarat, a 56-year-old man, Jitendra Kanthariya, was killed on Saturday after being dragged by a tempo at Ratnamala crossroads. The incident occurred around 3:30 pm following a heated argument over rash driving.

Kanthariya and his son, waiting at a traffic signal on their motorcycle, confronted tempo driver Mayur Mer (39) after their vehicle was hit. The situation escalated, with Mer allegedly abusing the duo before accelerating. In a tragic turn, the tempo ran over Kanthariya, dragging him a considerable distance before the driver fled the scene. Kanthariya died instantly.

CCTV footage captured the horrifying sequence, showing the victim’s son desperately trying to stop the driver. The police arrested Mer shortly after the incident. In his statement, the accused claimed he felt threatened by the confrontation and was attempting to escape. He alleged that one of them stood in front of his vehicle as he drove off.

Surat police have initiated further investigations to determine the exact sequence of events and ensure justice for the victim.
