Air India and Vistara have signed an interline partnership which will now allow domestic and global flyers to book flights on either of the airlines. This move will prove beneficial to the airlines as well as the customers

Much to the delight of the passengers, Vistara and Air India have now joined hands to provide a seamless flying experience.

Air India and Vistara have signed an interline partnership which will now allow domestic and global flyers to book flights on either of the airlines. This move will prove beneficial to the airlines as well as the customers. Now, Air India’s customers can get the opportunity to use Vistara’s domestic network. At the same time, Air India’s extensive domestic and global network will provide Vistara’s flyers with the choice to select from over 80 points of their network. So, the flyers can choose between both airlines as well as travel to several domestic and international destinations hassle-free.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of Air India, Campbell Wilson, said, “We are pleased at our interline partnership with Vistara, which will provide greater connectivity and convenience to our joint customers travelling within and outside of India on both our expanding route networks…We look forward to serving Vistara’s customers with additional travel choices to Air India destinations across the Americas, Europe, Far East, Australia, and the Middle East.” 


Vistara CEO, Vinod Kannan has expressed his happiness by stating, “This partnership brings together two leading airlines in India to offer greater convenience and enhanced connectivity to customers travelling across our joint network. We are delighted to further strengthen our relationship with Air India and connect our customers to new destinations in their wide network.” A statement from the Tata-owned airline read, “The scope of the agreement between the two airlines includes Inter Airline Through Check-in (IATCI) implementation, which enables guests to receive their boarding passes at the first point of departure for all the travel sectors on a single ticket, and have their baggage checked-in through to their final destinations. Air India and Vistara operate at the same terminals at most major airports in India, adding to the ease of the on-ground travel experience for guests with interline itineraries.” 



“IROPs will enable the two airlines to seamlessly transfer passengers to one another’s first available alternative flights in case of operational disruptions such as delays, cancellations, diversions and minimise any inconvenience to their guests” it added.
Both Vistara (flight cabin pictured) and Air India have publicly stated that a decision has not yet been taken on merging them but, at the same time, the Tata group has made it clear that it wants to be a dominant force in this sector

Air India has more than 100 interline partnerships, domestically as well as globally. Lufthansa, United Airlines, Air Canada, and Singapore Airlines, are a few of the airlines with whom Air India has partnered globally through check-in agreements.
