The ICC

The secretary of
BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) announced with thrill that the
long-standing discrimination had now subsided and a new era had been
established. The decision fulfilled the ICC's commitment to reach prize money
equity by the year 2030.
He also thanked
his fellow Board members for their support to achieve this important endeavor.
With this
decision both the teams will be awarded equal prize money to men's and women's
champions, runners ups and equivalent finishing positions at global events,
from the next cycle.
ICC chair Greg
Barclay, stated that he was delighted that both the teams would be awarded
equally and considered this decision as a significant moment in the history of
cricket. He also mentioned that the Council had been increasing prize money on
women's events since 2017 with an aim to achieve equality and from here on both
men's and women's teams would be awarded the same prize money.
Barclay also
quoted that Cricket is a game for all and this decision reinforces the value of
every player's contribution to the game.
