Assam: 15-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Karimganj, Family Alleges Rape

A somber event transpired in Assam's Karimganj district, where a 15-year-old girl was discovered lifeless and partially unclothed in her residence on Sunday morning.

Allegations of rape and murder have been made by the family, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement.

The distressing occurrence took place at Railway Siding, falling under the jurisdiction of the Karimganj police station.

Superintendent of Police, Partha Pratim Das, revealed that the police were alerted to the tragic discovery on Saturday evening.

"Upon reaching the scene, our team took possession of the body. According to her family, she engaged in casual conversations until 9 pm and seemed to be in good spirits. However, she was found dead under puzzling circumstances thereafter. The body will be transported to Silchar for an extensive post-mortem examination,” the SP said.

Addressing the family's claims of rape and murder, Das explained that  investigation is currently in progress, and the post-mortem report will play a crucial role in shedding light on the case."

He further clarified that the investigation is in its initial phase, with no individuals currently in custody. Further updates on this tragic incident are expected as the investigation advances.
