On Tuesday, there will be a full shutdown in Bengaluru because farmers, Kannada groups, and political parties have declared a ‘Bandh’ to oppose sending water from the Cauvery river in Karnataka to Tamil Nadu. To support this, schools and colleges in the city will be closed as it’s been declared a public holiday.


In Bengaluru, the Police Commissioner, B Dayananda, has decided to impose Section 144, which means that gatherings of more than five people won’t be allowed.

Some protests were planned at places like Freedom Park, Raj Bhawan, and Town Hall by Kannada groups, but the Police Commissioner has allowed protests only at Freedom Park.


Taxi services like Ola and Uber will continue as usual, according to Tanveer Pasha, the president of Ola Uber Drivers and Owners Association. But restaurants in the city will remain closed, as stated by P Rao, the President of the Bangalore Hoteliers Association.

On the other hand, the airline Vistara has issued a travel update, advising its passengers to carefully plan their transportation to and from the airport because private transport services might face disruptions.
