In a gruesome turn of events, Muktiranjan Pratap Ray, the prime suspect in the murder of 29-year-old Mahalakshmi, was discovered dead in Odisha, allegedly by suicide, following his role in the brutal killing. Mahalakshmi's dismembered body was shockingly found stuffed in a refrigerator in Bengaluru, leading to an intense police investigation.

The Odisha Police confirmed that Muktiranjan, 31, was in a tumultuous relationship with Mahalakshmi, and their frequent arguments, particularly over her insistence on marriage, ultimately led to her tragic death. Deputy Commissioner of Police Shekhar H Tekkannavar reported that Ray was found hanging from a tree on Wednesday, with a purported suicide note suggesting his confession to the crime.

Further investigation revealed that Muktiranjan had meticulously documented the horrific details of the murder in a diary, where he admitted to dismembering Mahalakshmi's body into 59 pieces. Following the murder, he allegedly contacted his younger brother, instructing him to vacate their rented accommodation without providing a clear reason.

Police tracked Ray's movements through technical surveillance, initially tracing him to West Bengal before locating him in Odisha. Meanwhile, the macabre discovery of Mahalakshmi’s body, infested with maggots and found by her mother and sister, has left the community in shock.
