BJP Functionary's Minor Son Among Three Arrested In Rape and Assault Case in MP

Three individuals, including a minor son of a local BJP functionary, have been arrested by the police in Madhya Pradesh's Datia district for the rape and assault of a 19-year-old girl and her minor sister. The incident occurred when the victim was abducted and sexually assaulted by four individuals, leading the victim to attempt suicide. One adult suspect has been apprehended, while two minors have been taken into custody. The authorities are currently searching for the remaining suspect and have offered a reward for information leading to his capture.

The son of a local BJP functionary, whose name is mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR), is among those detained. The BJP's district president expressed regret over the incident and stated that appropriate action will be taken if the victim identifies the involvement of the functionary's son in her police statement.

Following the incident, the victim's younger sister filed a police complaint stating that they were both abducted by four individuals. The elder sister was then taken to a house where she was sexually assaulted. The complainant herself was also subjected to sexual abuse, according to the FIR.

A protest took place at the police station in response to the incident, resulting in the registration of a case. The accused have been charged with offenses such as gang rape, assault, wrongful confinement, and violations of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The victim is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The BJP has stated that appropriate action will be taken against the local functionary's son if the victim identifies him in her statement to the police.
