Recent events unfolded as a BJP supporter named Shakunthala, was arrested on Friday, due to a tweet she posted targeting Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family in relation to the Udupi case.

The case involves three students from a medical college who were allegedly involved in installing concealed cameras in women's washrooms to secretly record private moments.

The Udupi incident gained attention when three students, Alimatul Shaifa, Shabanaz, and Aliya, faced suspension from the medical college amid allegations of invading their fellow classmates' privacy. The police, however, refuted any claims of communal motives, contradicting statements made by activist Rashmi Samant, who suggested that "unsuspecting Hindu girls" were being blackmailed with explicit photographs.

Shakunthala's tweet caught authorities' notice as it featured a screenshot of a post from the official Karnataka Congress account, implying that the ruling party trivialised the seriousness of the Udupi case by referring to it as "child's play." Moreover, the BJP supporter took a personal swipe at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, questioning how he would have reacted if his own family members were implicated in a similar situation.

Following a complaint by an individual named Hanamantray, an FIR was lodged against Shakunthala at the High Grounds Police Station, leading to her subsequent arrest. However, she was later released on bail.

The situation escalated further when Shakunthala claimed that police officers visited her home, allegedly attempting to intimidate her due to her social media post. This incident prompted strong condemnation from the BJP, which accused the Congress-led government in Karnataka of promoting "intimidation and harassment against Hindus" for standing against supposed institutional bias.

The case has sparked a heated debate, with both political parties trading accusations. Nonetheless, authorities are focused on conducting a fair investigation into the Udupi incident to ensure justice prevails for the affected students.
