The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) declared that the body of Ron Benjamin, who was 53 and one of the 250 Israeli civilians that Hamas terrorists seized in unprecedented attacks on the 7th of October had been recovered.

The body of the hostage, Benjamin, was found dead on Friday alongside three other hostages - Shani Louk, Amit Buskila, and Itzhak Gelerenter - whose identity was confirmed by the IDF on Friday. According to the military intelligence released on October 7th, the day of the Hamas attack near the border with Gaza, Benjamin has been killed.

A fanatic biker, Benjamin, had participated in a group cycling activity, near the border, when the attacks happened. His family asserted that he attempted to drive back home but was caught by the militants taking fighters from the area near Kibbutz Be'eri.

This is the story of the four bodies that came back after a tense prisoner exchange in November where Hamas released 105 hostages in return for a ceasefire and the release of 240 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. Yet, despite the drawn-out negotiations in Cairo, the goal of long-lasting peace and the safe return of remaining captives remain unfulfilled.

On Saturday, nearly a thousand people assembled in Tel Aviv protesting the war and demanding to release of all the hostages. Yotam Cohen, whose brother Nimrod remains in Gaza, told protesters: "We are aiming to halt the killings. The number of body bags containing the corpses of hostages is increasing with each passing day.

The crisis broke out on October 7th when the Hamas militants crossed through Israel and executed a series of attacks killing more or less 1,200 people inside Israel before kidnapping around 252 civilians and moving them back to the besieged Gaza Strip. Israel's over 35,000 killed Palestinians (according to the information given by Hamas officials) have died to date, after the Israeli retaliatory offensive on Gaza.
