A bridge over Pune’s Indrayani River collapsed at the Kundmala tourist spot, killing one and leaving several missing. The accident occurred during peak visiting hours. Rescue operations by police and NDRF are ongoing. Authorities are investigating the cause, and safety concerns over old structures are being raised.

A tragic incident unfolded in Pune on Sunday afternoon when a bridge over the Indrayani River at the popular Kundmala tourist location collapsed, sending several people plunging into the water below. The collapse occurred around 3:30 pm, a peak time for visitors, as many had gathered at the site for weekend sightseeing.
Local authorities confirmed that one person has died in the incident. Rescue efforts are underway to locate and save those still missing. The bridge, reportedly old and often crowded during holidays, failed suddenly, causing panic and chaos among those on it at the time.
The Talegaon Dabhade police, operating under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, responded promptly and were among the first at the scene. They were joined by two teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), who were deployed to assist with search and rescue operations.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of confusion and fear, with some attempting to swim to safety while others were swept away by the river's current. Authorities are working to determine how many people were on the bridge at the time and whether structural issues had been flagged previously.
Emergency medical teams are stationed nearby, and the administration has appealed to citizens to avoid the area as rescue operations continue. Officials have yet to release the identities of the victims or missing individuals.
