BSF Thwarts Drone Smuggling: Seizes Narcotics Near India-Pakistan Border in Ongoing Cross-Border Battle

In a successful operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) of Punjab’s Fazilka district intercepted a drone of Pakistani origin and confiscated two packets of suspected narcotics near the Abohar border. 

The incident took place on June 22, as confirmed by an official statement released on Thursday.

The BSF Punjab Frontier reported that its vigilant troops discovered a Pakistani drone, specifically a DJI Matrice 300 RTK, during the early morning hours in the village of Jodhawala, located near the international border in the Fazilka district. 

Alongside the drone, approximately 2 kilograms of suspected heroin were also recovered. The BSF personnel effectively foiled yet another attempt by smugglers to transport contraband via drone.

Authorities have initiated a further investigation into the matter to uncover additional details and identify those involved in the smuggling operation. 

This incident follows closely on the heels of a similar event in Rajasthan’s Gharsana, where BSF officials announced the recovery of a drone originating from the Pakistani side along with two packets of suspected narcotics. The seizure, made during the intervening night of June 20-21, yielded nearly 2 kilograms of narcotics.

The BSF Rajasthan statement emphasized the alertness of the troops deployed in Bikaner, who successfully intercepted the drone and narcotics near the Indo-Pak International Border. 

These incidents highlight the challenges faced by security forces in curbing cross-border smuggling activities. Drones have increasingly become a preferred means of transporting illegal substances due to their efficiency and ability to bypass traditional security measures.

The BSF, along with other law enforcement agencies, remains committed to ensuring the security and integrity of the nation’s borders.
