Buxar Firing:-
The Buxar Firing at Midnight In an unprecedented high-handedness of the Bihar Police administration, police officials of Buxar were reported to be raiding and firing at farmers and their families who had been named by the SJVN in a complaint before the police. And the most surprising and shocking part of the Buxar-firing is that the police resort to this action in midnight. The ghastly event of the buxar-firing is being condemned by one and all and the Nitish Government is finding no reasonable reply to the questions raised by this action against the innocent farmers as if they are dreaded criminals.   Buxar Firing Buxar Firing Events at the Buxar-Firing The police barged in the houses of the farmers while they were asleep with their families. The police started beating them and even resorted to firing in some cases. The farmers woke up astonished with loud cries for help. A few moments of the Buxar firing were recorded by the family members of some farmers which later surfaced as evidence. Even women were not spared. All were beaten up with lathis. CCTV footage showed that minutes before the Buxar firing, the police officers had gathered outside the house of one of the farmers and held discussions. Buxar Firing Buxar Firing Response by Farmers to the Buxar Firing Farmers have come out unanimously today in protest against the atrocious Buxar firing and have demonstrated their dissent in extremist forms such as setting police vans on fire and vandalizing them. The mob of farmers also gathered to pelt stones and raid the Chausa power plant. Four farmers protesting the Buxar firing have been arrested by the police. As a result of this violent outbreak, 4 policemen have also been injured. The police have also fired warning shots to control the mob protesting the Buxar-firing. Background of the Buxar Firing The SJVN (Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam) had begun constructing a coal power plant in the area of the Chausa Block located at a distance of 140 kms from Patna. It largely impacted the lands of farmers from the neighboring Banarpur village. The land acquisition for the power plant plan had been concluded in between 2010 and 2011. However, as the plan caught pace by 2022 and the lands of farmers were being gradually overtaken, the farmers demanded that they must be paid equitable compensation according to the current land rates, which the Company refused. Buxar Firing Buxar Firing The farmers were also initially promised that schools and hospitals would be built in the area for overall sustainable development and the local residents would be given opportunities for employment, however, all such promises turned out to be fake. With more days passing by, SJVN started employing people from other neighboring States. The farmers of the area had been peacefully protesting for more than two months on the same issue demanding revised rates of compensation and on the basis of a complaint before the police by SJVN, the police barged in at midnight into the houses of sleeping farmers resulted in the Buxar firing.
