A Hindu priest in Brampton, Canada, has been suspended after allegedly promoting violent rhetoric amid clashes between temple attendees and Khalistani protesters on November 3. The conflict, which occurred at the Hindu Sabha Mandir during a consular event attended by Indian officials, escalated when protesters waving Khalistani flags confronted attendees, resulting in violence.

The incident drew strong reactions from local officials and community leaders. Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown condemned the priest's actions, emphasizing that most Sikh and Hindu Canadians seek peace and unity. He noted that both communities have more in common than divides them, urging calm and advising residents not to respond to incitements. Ontario Sikhs and the Gurdwara Council also denounced the violence, standing with the temple community.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau echoed concerns, reaffirming the right of all Canadians to practice their faith freely and safely. The incident highlights ongoing tensions between India and Canada, which have intensified following accusations by Trudeau of Indian involvement in the killing of Khalistan activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, allegations India has dismissed as "absurd."
