New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), on July 3, filed a chargesheet in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court, implicating Bihar's deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav, and Rabri Devi in the land-for-job scam.
The alleged land-for-jobs case revolves around the purported appointments made within the railways during Lalu Yadav's tenure as the railway minister from 2004 to 2009. According to the CBI, these appointments were granted in exchange for land parcels gifted or sold at significantly reduced prices to Lalu Yadav's family and associates.
No specific date for the hearing on the chargesheet has been announced yet. However, the CBI's move comes amid speculation of a possible return of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, a Janata Dal (United) leader, to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) fold.
The chargesheet filing marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the land-for-jobs scam. It names Tejashwi Yadav, who serves as Bihar's deputy chief minister, alongside his father Lalu Yadav, the influential leader of the RJD, and Rabri Devi, Lalu Yadav's wife.
The investigation has focused on the alleged exchange of valuable employment opportunities within the railways for land parcels acquired by Lalu Yadav's family during his tenure as the railway minister. The CBI's chargesheet seeks to establish a connection between the appointments made and the land deals that took place during the specified period.
With the court hearing approaching, the chargesheet filing is expected to generate significant political interest and attention. It remains to be seen how the accused individuals respond to the charges and what impact this development might have on Bihar's political landscape.
