Special Parliament session, One Nation, One Election' Uniform Civil Code, Women's reservation

The Centre has called for a special session of Parliament for five days scheduled to convene from September 18 to 22.

As per a report by India Today, the government intends to introduce important legislation, with a primary focus on 'One Nation, One Election,' the Uniform Civil Code, and women's reservation.

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, has officially confirmed the dates for this special session, which is set to comprise five separate sittings.

Upcoming special Parliament session: 'One Nation, One Election,' Uniform Civil Code, and women's reservation bills on the agenda.

Expressing optimism, Joshi remarked, "During the auspicious Amrit Kaal, we look forward to constructive debates and discussions within Parliament."

The 'One Nation, One Election' concept, which has been a subject of deliberation for some time, stands out as a top priority for the government. This proposal entails the synchronisation of Lok Sabha elections with state assembly elections, a departure from the current practice of holding these elections separately.

Presently, elections for the Lok Sabha and state assemblies occur at different times, resulting in two distinct election cycles each year.

Uniform Civil Code
The Centre has called for a special session of Parliament for five days scheduled to convene from September 18 to 22.

The envisioned 'One Nation, One Election' model would involve the simultaneous conduct of Lok Sabha and state assembly elections, likely on a single day. The aim is to reduce the frequency of elections, streamline the electoral process, and potentially enhance governance stability.

Furthermore, the government is expected to address other significant legislative issues during this special session. The Uniform Civil Code, which deals with the establishment of uniform personal laws for all citizens, and the matter of women's reservation across various sectors, are also on the legislative docket.

As the special Parliamentary session draws near, the nation anticipates robust debates and discussions on these critical matters, which have far-reaching implications for India's political and social landscape.
