Co-Passenger Set Afire in Running Train:-

A dreadful incident occurred on the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express train while it was passing through the Korapuzha railway Bridge located on the outskirts of Kozhikode, Kerala, yesterday. (2nd April 2023)

Details of The Incident

The onlookers of the incident have reported that they had seen a man restlessly looking for a woman with a child for a long time and upon finding, set them on fire after soaking them in inflammable liquid. 

Soon after the act, the man escaped the train. 

Other responsible passengers pulled the chain to halt the train. A co-passenger reported to the media, “A man, who was injured, kept looking for a woman and a child. We found footwear and a mobile phone of that woman.”

Bodies Recovered and Other Casualties

After some time, when a few other people filed missing reports for a woman and a child in Kannur, the police began searching for them. 

The bodies of 3 people, including the woman and the child, were found lying on the railway tracks late at night. The woman is a resident of Kannur, while the child is identified as her nephew. 

The third body of a man could not be identified yet. 8 other people sustained injuries after the incident. Some have been admitted to the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital, and others to the Koyilandy Taluk Hospital .
