Leaders, including PM Modi and Speaker Om Birla, paid homage at Parliament on the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 attack. President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the nation's perpetual indebtedness to the fallen security personnel, urging a renewed commitment to eradicate terrorism in all its forms.
In
a solemn ceremony marking 22 years since the Parliament attack, leaders,
including PM Modi and Speaker Om Birla, gathered at the Parliament to pay
homage to the fallen jawans. The 2001 terrorist assault by Lashkar-e-Taiba and
Jaish-e-Mohammed outfits left nine dead, all terrorists were neutralized.

events of December 13, 2001. The terrorists' attempt to target the political
leadership was thwarted by the brave security personnel, resulting in the
sacrifice of nine lives.
President Droupadi Murmu expressed the nation's perpetual indebtedness to the courageous security personnel who laid down their lives during the 2001 Parliament attack. In a poignant post on 'X,' she emphasized that the sacrifice of these individuals should not be in vain. Murmu urged everyone to renew their commitment to eradicate terrorism, a menace that threatens humanity worldwide in various forms.

"On
this day, 22 years ago, the nefarious plan of terrorists to eliminate the top
line of political leadership and damage our Temple of Democracy was
foiled," Murmu stated. She underscored that the sacrifice of the security
personnel should serve as a reminder of the ongoing battle against terrorism.
As the nation observes this solemn occasion, leaders and citizens alike echo the sentiment that the sacrifice of those who defended the Parliament should motivate a collective pledge to eliminate terrorism. President Murmu affirmed, "Their sacrifice will not be allowed to go in vain as we reiterate today our pledge to wipe out terrorism." The nation remains forever indebted to those who laid down their lives, and their memory continues to inspire the commitment to safeguard the democratic values of the country.
