Congress has challenged Arvind Kejriwal to debate the findings of 14 CAG reports critical of the Delhi government. Pawan Khera accused Kejriwal of hypocrisy, while Rahul Gandhi linked him to the excise policy scam. With elections nearing, the controversy over these reports has become a major political issue in Delhi.

The Congress has intensified its attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi, challenging Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to debate the findings of 14 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera accused Kejriwal of hypocrisy, alleging that he once used “fake CAG drafts” against the Congress-led UPA government but is now silent on reports critical of his own administration.

Khera questioned Kejriwal’s stance, stating, “Has he read his CAG reports? He used to travel across the country accusing us of corruption. Now, when reports highlight issues in his government, why is he silent?” He further dared Kejriwal to participate in a public debate, asserting, “If he has the guts, he should debate with us on these reports.”

The controversy over the CAG reports has emerged as a key political flashpoint ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections on February 5. The reports scrutinise several aspects of the Delhi government’s functioning, including the excise policy, renovation of the chief minister’s residence, vehicular pollution control measures, and public health initiatives. The BJP has also released parts of the reports, putting the AAP government under pressure.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi sharpened his attack on Kejriwal, linking him to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. He contrasted Kejriwal’s early political promises with his current lifestyle, accusing him of abandoning his anti-corruption stance. Kejriwal, in turn, retaliated by pointing to controversies involving Congress leaders, including the National Herald case.
