Ajit Prasad, son of Samajwadi MP Awadhesh Prasad, has been accused of kidnapping and robbery in Faizabad. Property dealer Ravi Tiwari alleged Ajit and his associates assaulted and extorted him. While the police investigation corroborated the claims, Awadhesh Prasad dismissed the charges as politically motivated ahead of the Milkipur by-election.
Ajit Prasad, son of Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Awadhesh Prasad, has been charged with kidnapping, robbery, and assault. A local property dealer, Ravi Tiwari, alleged that Prasad, along with several others, kidnapped and physically assaulted him near an SBI branch in Faizabad. Tiwari claimed ₹1 lakh was forcibly taken from him, and he was threatened with death before being released.
The incident reportedly occurred during a land deal mediation between Prasad and a local landowner. Following Tiwari’s complaint, the police launched an investigation, and initial findings have confirmed the allegations. A case has been registered against Ajit Prasad, Raju Yadav, and several others, including police constable Shashikant Rai.
The controversy has sparked political reactions, with BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya accusing Ajit Prasad of involvement in the crime. In response, Awadhesh Prasad dismissed the charges as baseless and politically motivated, claiming that the BJP is attempting to sabotage the Samajwadi Party's electoral prospects in the Milkipur by-election. He further alleged that the case was fabricated to divert attention from protests against police brutality in the Raunahi area.
