Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on August 23 hailed ISRO after Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on moon.

Taking to the micro-blogging site X, Jairam said that ISRO’s accomplishments have always been anchored in self-reliance.

''They reflect phenomenal teamwork, partnerships, and enterprise. The entire world is looking up to ISRO today, acknowledging its achievements, and for us Indians, it is a matter of special pride,'' he wrote on X.

He further recalled that India's journey into the cosmos embarked upon in 1962 with the establishment of INCOSPAR, the Indian National Committee for Space Research. The foresight of Dr. Homi Bhabha and Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, coupled with the unwavering support of India's inaugural Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, made this visionary venture possible.

The Congress' declaration coincided with the nation's eager anticipation of Chandrayaan-3's imminent lunar landing, a significant milestone in India's pursuit of space exploration, he said.

Dr. Ramesh commemorated this historic moment by sharing an archived newspaper article encapsulating the birth of INCOSPAR and acknowledging the pioneering roles of Dr. Homi Bhabha and Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, who spearheaded India's nascent space exploration endeavor.

India's journey into space research and technology has unquestionably progressed since its early days, exemplified by the Chandrayaan-3 mission.

While the nation's attention remains riveted on the moon, the Congress' reaffirmation of INCOSPAR's foundational role serves as a poignant reminder of the visionary minds that charted India's remarkable course into space exploration—a journey that continues to inspire and captivate the global imagination.
