The Congress Working Committee (CWC) has undergone a significant reorganisation, setting the stage for the party's preparations ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In a bold move, Mallikarjun Kharge, the party's president, has announced a substantial reshuffle, introducing 28 new members into the committee, just eight months before the crucial national polls.

This restructuring isn't limited to new faces; it also involves the removal of existing members and those who have recently passed away. These changes signal a concerted effort to rejuvenate the party's leadership and reposition it for the upcoming elections.

Ghulam Nabi Azad left Congress on Aug 26, 2022, criticizing internal dynamics.

Notably absent from this transformation is Ghulam Nabi Azad, who departed from the Congress party on August 26, 2022, citing the increasing influence of an "inexperienced sycophantic group" within the party. Azad, a seasoned politician, had previously served as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and held the position of Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare.

Ashok Gehlot, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, and a two-time former chief minister, is another significant figure left out of the revamped CWC, marking a noteworthy shift in the party's composition.

This reshuffling extends to other seasoned politicians, including Siddaramaiah, Harish Rawat, Motilal Vora, Oommen Chandy, Ahmed Patel, and Tarun Gogoi, each with their own substantial political legacies.

As the Congress party gears up for the upcoming electoral battle, the revamped CWC is poised to play a crucial role in defining the party's strategy and direction as it seeks to regain political prominence.
