Attempted murder

A man in New Delhi has been found guilty of attempting to murder his wife in a shooting incident that took place nearly five years ago. Additional Sessions Judge Vipin Kharb presided over the case of Ravinder Singh, who was accused of using a country-made pistol to shoot his wife with the intent to kill her on September 4, 2018.

According to the prosecution's account, Poonam, the victim, had been married to Singh for 13 years. On the day of the incident, a heated argument erupted between the couple, during which Poonam urged Singh not to quarrel due to their growing children. In a shocking turn of events, Singh left the room and returned with a loaded gun, which he then used to fire at his wife.

Sentencing hearing set for August 10
A man in New Delhi has been found guilty of attempting to murder his wife in a shooting incident that took place nearly five years ago.

ASJ Kharb delivered the judgment earlier this month, stating, "The prosecution has successfully proven beyond reasonable doubt that the accused committed an offense under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC and an offense under the Arms Act. Consequently, Ravinder Singh has been convicted for these offenses." The court found the victim's testimony credible and supported by medical evidence, as well as the statements provided by her daughter and brother.

The bullet from the country-made pistol hit the victim's stomach and exited through her right gluteal region. The court concluded that Singh's actions clearly indicated an intention to cause his wife's death and that he was using the firearm illegally, as he lacked the necessary license.
