Delhi Police Arrest Over 400 Criminals in Pre-Election Crackdown

Delhi Police arrested 415 criminals, including 81 proclaimed offenders, in a pre-election crackdown in northwest Delhi. The operation targeted organized crime, cyber fraud, and drug trafficking, while seizing illicit liquor and illegal arms. Preventive measures ensured enhanced public safety ahead of Assembly elections.

Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, Delhi Police arrested 415 criminals in a comprehensive crackdown in the northwest district, aimed at ensuring public safety. The operation, conducted from December 1 to 15, involved over 1,500 personnel and targeted individuals linked to theft, robbery, organized crime, and other serious offenses.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Dhania revealed that the operation led to the arrest of 81 proclaimed offenders and parole jumpers. Among the apprehended were 21 individuals tied to organized criminal activities like bootlegging, narcotics, and gambling. Notably, 61 arrests were made in drug trafficking cases, and 53 juveniles involved in various crimes were detained, including 18 for heinous offenses.

As part of efforts to prevent the glorification of crime, social media accounts of 67 juveniles were deactivated. Additionally, the police seized 22 illegal weapons and arrested 15 individuals for arms-related violations. Preventive action was taken against 81 suspects under the Arms Act.

The crackdown also addressed cybercrime, with investigations into 44 fraud cases resulting in 31 arrests. Authorities successfully prevented fraudulent withdrawals totaling ₹9.5 lakh.

Efforts to curb smuggling and illegal liquor distribution led to the seizure of 8,545 liters of illicit liquor and the arrest of 127 individuals. Police tackled gambling by registering 107 cases and arresting 127 people.

During the operation, 55 people were arrested in connection with 73 snatching incidents, while 31 of 51 missing "Bad Characters" were tracked down. Over 15,000 preventive arrests were also made to enhance public safety.
