A 22-year-old woman named Ifra was critically injured in a shooting incident involving rival gangs in the Welcome area of Delhi. The incident, attributed to a financial dispute between jeans wholesalers, saw multiple rounds fired. Ifra is being treated at GTB Hospital. Police have apprehended several suspects and increased their presence in the area amid rising concerns about gang-related violence and extortion in the city, with 133 cases reported this year alone.
A 22-year-old woman, identified as Ifra, was critically injured during a shooting incident involving two rival gangs in the Welcome area of North-East Delhi on Saturday. According to reports from the Delhi Police, multiple rounds of gunfire were exchanged, leading to her being shot in the chest. She has been admitted to GTB Hospital for treatment.
The police received an alert at 4:42 PM regarding a quarrel that escalated into firing at Raja Market. Upon arrival, officials discovered empty cartridges scattered on the street, indicating the severity of the incident.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between two wholesale jeans sellers, reportedly over financial disagreements. A total of 17 exhibits, including empty and live cartridges, were collected from the crime scene. Several suspects have been apprehended, although no injuries were reported among the gang members involved.
In response to the shooting, police have heightened their presence in the area to prevent further violence and are conducting interviews to ascertain the motive behind the clash.

This incident is part of a worrying trend in Delhi, where extortion-related violence has surged. The Delhi Police recently reported 133 extortion cases this year, highlighting an increase in organized crime activities, including shootings and threats against business owners. The police have identified eleven gangs linked to extortion and violent crimes, with directives to take stricter action against them, including the potential application of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.
