Tharoor stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may have overreached in their efforts, resulting in unintended consequences. This includes surprising support from the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, whose party stated that they are defending democracy and preventing the misuse of autonomous institutions.
