Vaibhav Gehlot, the son of Rajasthan's Chief
Minister, Ashok Gehlot, voluntarily appeared before the Enforcement Directorate
(ED) today as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected foreign exchange
rule breaches. He arrived at the ED's headquarters in Delhi around 11:30 a.m.
The ED had issued summonses to Vaibhav Gehlot,
providing him with the option to give his statement either at the ED's Jaipur
or Delhi offices. These summonses are linked to recent ED raids on entities
like Triton Hotels & Resorts Pvt. Ltd., Vardha Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., and
individuals including Shiv Shankar Sharma and Rattan Kant Sharma.
During the searches conducted last month, the ED
seized ₹1.2 crore in cash. Investigations suggest that the Triton group
received investments from a Mauritius entity during the 2007-2008 period.
The ED is anticipated to question Vaibhav Gehlot regarding his alleged connections with Rattan Kant Sharma.

In response to the accusations against his son,
Ashok Gehlot has defended Vaibhav, emphasizing that his involvement does not
pertain to foreign exchange transactions. He clarified, saying, "Vaibhav
Gehlot solely operates a taxi company. Rattan (Kant Sharma) was a partner, but
they work independently now."
The Chief Minister expressed his concerns about the
credibility of central agencies, attributing it to what he perceives as the
BJP-led central government's misuse of power. He said, "Central agencies
now lack credibility. This is a worrisome situation. It's not just about my son
or the state Congress president. They have created chaos in the country."
Gehlot also criticized the central agencies for
issuing sudden and short-notice summonses, which he deemed unacceptable. This
case has attracted significant attention, highlighting the intersection of
politics and legal investigations in India's ever-evolving landscape.
