Delhi witnessed a harrowing incident on Saturday morning when a fire broke out at a namkeen manufacturing unit in Najafgarh, southwest Delhi, leading to an explosion that injured four workers.

The blaze was reported around 8:16 am in the two-storey facility, with the fire originating on the ground floor. A swift response from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) saw the deployment of 17 fire tenders to the scene. Despite the prompt action, four workers sustained injuries from the blast caused by the fire. They were immediately rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for medical care.

Officials indicated that the firefighting efforts are still underway as authorities work diligently to contain the situation and prevent further escalation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though preliminary reports suggest that the factory’s stored materials may have contributed to the intensity of the blaze.

The incident has raised concerns about workplace safety standards in industrial units, particularly those dealing with inflammable materials. Local authorities have assured a thorough investigation into the incident to determine accountability and prevent such occurrences in the future.
