Delhi police have arrested four individuals in connection with the theft of a mobile phone belonging to French Ambassador to India, Thierry Mathou. The theft occurred on October 20 while Mathou and his wife were exploring Chandni Chowk, a bustling market in Delhi, for Diwali shopping. According to reports, the ambassador’s phone was stolen from his pocket near Jain Mandir.
Following the incident, Mathou promptly filed an e-complaint, and the French embassy notified local authorities, prompting an investigation. Delhi police reviewed CCTV footage, quickly assembling a dedicated team to identify and arrest the suspects, aged between 20 and 25, all of whom are residents of the trans-Yamuna area. The stolen phone was successfully recovered soon after the arrests.
