Jani Jaikumar, a businessman from Gujarat, was arrested for violating the photography ban at Ayodhya's Ram temple using camera-equipped sunglasses. The quick action of security personnel prevented further issues. The temple, constructed after a 2019 Supreme Court verdict, prohibits photography for security reasons.
A Gujarat-based businessman, Jani Jaikumar, was arrested on Monday after being caught taking pictures at the Ram temple in Ayodhya using camera-equipped sunglasses. The temple, a significant religious site that was constructed after years of legal dispute, has strict rules prohibiting photography and videography for security reasons.
Jaikumar, from Vadodara, had managed to pass through multiple security checkpoints and reached the Singhdwar area of the temple complex before he was noticed by security personnel. His sunglasses, which contained hidden cameras on both sides and a button for taking photos, flashed a light that caught the attention of temple guards. The device, valued at approximately ₹50,000, was quickly discovered and led to his detention.
The swift action of the security team, particularly an SSF jawan named Anurag Bajpai, prevented a potential security breach. The temple’s security personnel had been vigilant, and their quick response ensured the situation was contained without further incidents. Jaikumar is currently being interrogated by authorities.

The Ram temple, which opened to the public in January 2024 following a consecration ceremony led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has long been a site of political and religious significance. The temple's construction came after a Supreme Court ruling in 2019, which resolved the decades-long dispute regarding the land once occupied by the Babri Mosque.
