The three-match
ODI series between the Indian women's cricket team and their Bangladeshi
counterparts has started. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and
elected to bowl first at the Sher-E-Bangla stadium. After a successful T20I
series against Bangladesh, where they emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline,
India aims to replicate their success in the one-day format.
Harmanpreet Kaur,
known for her tactical acumen, opted to field first, hoping to restrict the
Bangladeshi women's team and chase down the target. The Indian skipper also
revealed that the team will hand debuts to two players, Amanjot and Anusha, for
the opening match of the ODI series.
The lineup for
the Bangladesh women's cricket team includes Murshida Khatun, Sharmin Akhter,
Fargana Hoque, Nigar Sultana (Captain), Shorna Akter, Nahida Akter, Ritu Moni,
Fahima Khatun, Rabeya Khan, Marufa Akter, and Sultana Khatun.
On the other
hand, the India Women's Playing XI features Smriti Mandhana, Priya Punia,
Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Yastika Bhatia (wk), Deepti Sharma,
Devika Vaidya, Amanjot Kaur, Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana, and Bareddy Anusha.
Harmanpreet
Kaur's decision to bowl first indicates her confidence in the team's bowling
attack, backed by players like Amanjot Kaur, Pooja Vastrakar, Deepti Sharma,
and Sneh Rana. The Indian side will rely on the strong batting prowess of their
top-order batswomen, including Harmanpreet Kaur herself, Smriti Mandhana, and
Shafali Verma, to provide a solid start.
With Jemimah
Rodrigues, Harleen Deol, and Yastika Bhatia contributing to the middle order,
India possesses a formidable batting lineup. Additionally, the all-round
abilities of Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma will prove crucial in both
bowling and batting aspects.
The match marks
the debut of Bareddy Anusha, who was unsold at the Women's Premier League (WPL)
auction, and Minnu Mani, who impressed for Kerala Women and was bought by Delhi
Capitals for INR 30 lakhs in the WPL auction. These young players have an
opportunity to showcase their talent on the international stage and make an
impact on the Indian team.
