Manipur violence: Amit Shah flew in to Imphal last night accompanied by home secretary

Manipur:-

Home Minister Amit Shah made a remarkable attempt to reconcile the ethnic communities of Manipur on Tuesday (30th May 2023) by organising 9 meetings in locations throughout the state of Manipur.

The past few days had been marked by firing by miltants, arson and looting of the native people. To mitigate the crisis, Amit Shah called upon social leaders, civil servants and retired officers from the Army and held peace talks with them. In Churachandpur, Amit Shah met few members from the Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) and Kuki students’ organization besides some BJP MLAs standing on behalf of the Kuki community.

Amit Shah has expressed two top priorities—”Peace and prosperity of Manipur” and “territorial and administrative integrity of the state”. While the Kuki community demands for separate administration and President’s Rule for the time-being, the Meiti community is satisfied with the stand of Home Minister Amit Shah who assured that no matter what, Manipur would remain integrated as a whole and a part of India.

Amit Shah’s visit received an overwhelming response from the people of Manipur, each telling a different story. While one placard read, “Our solutions are with you”, the other read, “We are tribals , you can't stop us.” The fate of the state of Manipur is yet to be decided.
