In a significant weather update, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a top forecast predicting heavy rainfall in the states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the next two days. The IMD has warned of potential disruptions and advised residents and authorities to take necessary precautions.


According to the Met Department’s daily bulletin, Himachal Pradesh will have extensive rainfall for the next five days, while East Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand will experience the same for the next three days.

Due to heavy rainfall, many parts of the country have announced school holiday for Monday.

According to IMD, active monsoon conditions are likely to prevail over central and neighbouring East India over the next five days, with heavy rainfall anticipated over Jharkhand and Odisha over the next 24 hours, over the eastern districts of Madhya Pradesh over the next week, over the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra on July 16 and 18, over the western districts of Madhya Pradesh, and over Chhattisgarh over the next two days.


The IMD has categorised the rainfall as “heavy to very heavy” and has issued an orange alert for both states, indicating the possibility of significant weather events that may disrupt normal life. The alert advises people to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in hilly and landslide-prone areas.
