A group from India went to a meeting about some water issues in Vienna on September 20 and 21. This meeting was about the Kishenganga and Ratle matters and was organized by a special expert because of a water agreement. People from both India and Pakistan were there to talk about it.
India sent important people to the meeting in Vienna. The head of the Department of Water Resources was leading the Indian team. A senior lawyer named Harish Salve was also there as India’s main legal expert.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that India going to this meeting is following the rules of the Indus Waters Treaty. They believe that this meeting with the Neutral Expert is the only correct way to deal with the water issues right now.
They also mentioned that India is not taking part in another separate meeting about the same water projects because they think it’s not being done the right way and it’s not allowed by the rules.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Neutral Expert meetings are still happening and will continue for a while. India is determined to take part in a way that helps solve the water issues as per the Indus Waters Treaty rules. They want to work things out properly.
