In response to Beijing's announcement of new Chinese names for 11 locations in Arunachal Pradesh, India has reacted strongly. China asserts that this area is part of southern Tibet, but India firmly disagrees.

India made it clear on Tuesday that it does not accept China's renaming of certain locations in Arunachal Pradesh. The country firmly believes that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral component of India and any attempt to give it fabricated names will not alter this fact.

Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, stated that India completely dismissed China's renaming of locations in Arunachal Pradesh.

Bagchi affirmed, "We are aware of these reports. China has attempted this before. India completely rejects this."

He added, "Arunachal Pradesh is an inseparable and integral part of India. It has always been and will continue to remain so. Efforts to bestow fictitious names on it will not change this reality."

China's civil affairs ministry released its third set of standardized geographical names for Arunachal Pradesh.

In 2017, the first group of standardized names for six locations in Arunachal Pradesh was released, while the second set of 15 locations was announced in 2021.

China's Ministry of Civil Affairs released the official names of the 11 locations on Sunday.

According to the state-run Global Times on Monday, China's Ministry of Civil Affairs provided detailed coordinates for the 11 locations, which included two land areas, two residential areas, five mountain peaks, and two rivers.

The report also listed the categories of the places' names and their subordinate administrative districts. China's decision to rename these places in Arunachal Pradesh coincided with the ongoing border standoff in eastern Ladakh since May 2020.
