Some opposition leaders and social media users have circulated Google Map screenshots asserting that the Ram Temple stands approximately three kilometers away from the disputed Babri Masjid site. This has prompted questions about the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) intentions, with critics questioning why the temple isn't constructed on the contentious site where the mosque was demolished.

Prominent leaders, including Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut and Congress's Digvijay Singh, have raised concerns about the temple's relocation, alleging that it fosters Hindu-Muslim communal discord. Singh went on record stating that the destruction of the mosque was a deliberate move to polarize communities rather than a genuine effort to build a temple.

In response to these claims, Alt News conducted a fact-check, utilizing Google Maps and Google Earth Pro for a comprehensive analysis. The viral screenshot allegedly depicting the Ram Temple three kilometers away was scrutinized, revealing that the site in question was actually the location of the Sita-Ram Birla Temple, not the Babri Masjid.

Furthermore, Alt News discovered discrepancies in the labeling of the Babri Masjid site on Google Maps, where it was incorrectly marked as "Babar Masjid." This misinformation added confusion to the narrative. Upon investigating the Ayodhya Ram Mandir's current location, Alt News found that the temple was indeed constructed on the historic Babri Masjid site.

The fact-checkers delved into Google Earth Pro's satellite images, comparing the 2023 image of the temple's construction site with older images dating back to 2011. Thus, Alt News concluded that the temple is being built precisely where the Babri Masjid once stood, dispelling the claims of its relocation.
