The ongoing dispute surrounding the location of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir has triggered controversy, with opposition leaders and social media users questioning its placement. Allegations suggesting the temple stands three kilometers away from the Babri Masjid site have surfaced, leading to accusations of communal tensions. However, a fact-check conducted by Alt News reveals that the temple was constructed exactly where the Babri Masjid once stood. Google Maps screenshots, misconstrued information, and misleading images have fueled the controversy, prompting the need for clarification and accurate reporting.

The longstanding dispute over the Ayodhya Ram Mandir's location has reignited discussions, with conflicting claims and accusations adding fuel to the controversy. Some opposition leaders and social media users have circulated Google Map screenshots asserting that the Ram Temple stands approximately three kilometers away from the disputed Babri Masjid site. This has prompted questions about the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) intentions, with critics questioning why the temple isn't constructed on the contentious site where the mosque was demolished.

Prominent leaders, including Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut and Congress's Digvijay Singh, have raised concerns about the temple's relocation, alleging that it fosters Hindu-Muslim communal discord. Singh went on record stating that the destruction of the mosque was a deliberate move to polarize communities rather than a genuine effort to build a temple.

In response to these claims, Alt News conducted a fact-check, utilizing Google Maps and Google Earth Pro for a comprehensive analysis. The viral screenshot allegedly depicting the Ram Temple three kilometers away was scrutinized, revealing that the site in question was actually the location of the Sita-Ram Birla Temple, not the Babri Masjid.

Furthermore, Alt News discovered discrepancies in the labeling of the Babri Masjid site on Google Maps, where it was incorrectly marked as "Babar Masjid." This misinformation added confusion to the narrative. Upon investigating the Ayodhya Ram Mandir's current location, Alt News found that the temple was indeed constructed on the historic Babri Masjid site.

The fact-checkers delved into Google Earth Pro's satellite images, comparing the 2023 image of the temple's construction site with older images dating back to 2011. The analysis revealed a consistent structure, affirming that the Ram temple construction aligns with the site's historical footprint. Thus, Alt News concluded that the temple is being built precisely where the Babri Masjid once stood, dispelling the claims of its relocation.

This clarification highlights the importance of fact-checking in sensitive matters and underscores the need for accurate reporting to dispel misconceptions surrounding religiously charged controversies.
